Mithila Pearl is the makhana brand of Veltrix Exports, a founder-run export business based in Chapra, in the Saran district of Bihar, India.
The makhana plant (Euryale ferox) grows in the ponds of north Bihar.
Our story
Close to the makhana belt.
Veltrix Exports is a sole proprietorship, M/s Veltrix Exports, and Mithila Pearl is the name our makhana carries.
We started with one simple observation. Most of the world's makhana (fox nuts) grows in the ponds of north Bihar, yet it usually reaches international buyers through long trading chains. We are based inside the region: the processors in Darbhanga, Madhubani and Purnia are within a day's drive of our office, so we can visit them, grade lots and check packing ourselves.
We do one thing: makhana. Plain popped makhana in four grades (SELECT — 5 Suta, PREMIUM — 6 Suta, ROYAL — 6+ Suta and SIGNATURE — 7 Suta), roasted and flavoured makhana, retail and private-label packs, and makhana flour. Focusing on one product lets us know the grades, the processors and every market's rules in detail.

Every sample comes from the lot we intend to buy for the buyer, with its lab certificate.
Small buyers deserve a door.
Many makhana exporters ask for a tonne or more. We ship trial lots from 50 kg, because that is how new products get tested.
Paperwork is the product.
Most export problems are documentation and contaminant problems, not taste problems. We treat the compliance chain as seriously as the goods.
